Monday, April 29, 2024 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Enamelists, come explore the exciting world of copper electroforming! Learn to create uniquely organic and textured copper designs that highlight and enhance the color and surface of your enamels. In this workshop we will start by learning how to create enamels that are appropriate for combining with electroforming and how to set up and operate your own copper electroformer. We will then discuss strategies for design and composition as well as how to create findings so that your pieces become wearable. The workshop is focused on jewelry but with a larger electroformer this technique can easily be adapted to sculpture or wall panels.

The Alchemy of Copper Oxides: Two Enamels, Infinite Colors

  • ONLINE - Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Fridays, October 4, 11, 18, 2024
12 - 2 pm EST

Explore the dynamic interaction between copper, white and clear liquid enamel, and heat. Start with enamel application (pouring, dipping, brushing) and sgraffito (creating patterns by scratching through the enamel). Then firing, adding layers, and firing again makes the magic really happens. The range of colors created with just two enamels is amazing! In addition to technical information, we will cover various approaches to design for wall panels and jewelry. All skill levels welcome.

Registration opens July 5, 204 on Pocosin Arts
